Bansko is an international tourism center as well during the winter season as in summer. It is situated in the Pirin mountains in Southwest Bulgaria. Mountain peaks, lakes, and pine woods make the site so popular for recreation.

Bulgaria’s most recognised ski resort is Bansko. As a result of massive investment in Bulgaria, particularly in the development of the tourism industries, Bansko is undergoing extensive refurbishment and modernization, to create a facility that can compete on a world scale. As well as time and money spent on developing hotels, luxurious apartments, ski lifts, and other facilities, there is also a great deal being plowed into refining the actual slopes themselves, to ensure high-quality, internationally acceptable skiing conditions. With impressive snow coverage from late November through to spring, Bansko is an ideal location for a ski resort, and this is reflected by its increasing popularity. Improvements to the infrastructure of the ski area on Todorka are most responsible for Bulgaria’s rising share in European winter tourism. In 2003 they built a gondola lift replacing the ride in a minibus from town to the base area of Banderishka Poliana. Since 2010, the ski area has had 75 km (47 mi) of ski runs, 14 lifts, and drags that can serve up to 24,500 persons per hour. The lift-served summit is 2,600 m (8,500 ft) above sea level and has a vertical drop of over 1,600 m (5,200 ft).
